About John Hegrenes

25 years being an entrepreneur. Strong technical understanding. Visionary. Passionate about fintech. Co-founder of Bueno, a banking alternative in Spain focusing on second home owners and expats. There are 18 million second homes in the south of Europe, these are often underserved, customer pay too much for poor banking and poor service. In Bueno we are re-inventing not only banking but how people manage their second homes. It is property banking simplified.

  • Aspiring
    Founder
    Aspiring Aug 2018 - Jun 2020
    Ireland
ASPIRING was a unique concept. The goal was to engage people in the process of starting, funding and promoting businesses through sharing. Using the power of social media could potentially build world wide brands in months with very limited marketing costs. By rewarding everyone taking part spreading the word we would also create a new financial model, a more sustainable approach to building a business.

In early 2016 I got involved with an online gambling business, managing the process of setting up the business, get it licensed and the day to day operations. I have also developed an in-house gambling platform together with a small team of developers. Most online gambling companies rent platforms on a revenue sharing model; MOG did not want that so we had to make everything from scratch. Most online gambling companies rent platforms on a revenue sharing model; MOG did not want that so we had to make everything from scratch. I also managed the process of developing the first few games, which are built around a totally new gambling concept. Gambling was a totally new business area for me, but many of the processes are similar to Fintech (which is more my passion) as there is a flow of money which need to be managed, so after all not that different from what I used to do.MOG eventually closed down, to bad as it was a cool concept. I was testing new business ideas within financial education. Turns out most people are not interested in learning about financials, they are more interested in spending borrowed money than to save money... At the same time I worked as a freelancer.

Developing interactive solutions and managing paid services, such as premium SMS (Idol voting, TV chat, ringtones++) at Norway’s biggest commercial TV station. Great experience as I was able to take part in the early days of TV interaction (there were no smart phones or apps so a totally different world than today).
