Blacks Sports Department provide a complete legal and consultancy service for sports professionals both nationally and internationally, advising clients of professional legal matters such as player / manager contracts, sponsorship agreements, image rights, business dealings and disputes along with their personal affairs.The team also act for sports organisations, clubs, professional sports associations and sports manufacturers and retailers across a broad range of sports including football, tennis, rugby, cricket and horse-racing.John had a successful playing career of over 19 years for teams including Barnsley, Bradford City, Leeds United, Middlesbrough and Newcastle, John also gained Scottish International Honours and is now an Associated Mediator of the Sports Dispute Resolution Panel.John's expertise and experience includes:Significant football industry knowledge gained from 20 years involvement in the sport and currently coach to Bradford City F.C. Under 16 squadSupporting, consulting and advising in respect of negotiating industrial contracts and sponsorship agreements including transfer advice and housing with football clubs, associations and football authoritiesAdvising and helping professional sports personnel in respect of personal and professional issues, sometimes in the role of “agony aunt”Advising and assisting with regard to all other sports and sports connections and assisting the firm on all other aspect where required, together with other initiatives.Involved in all aspects of marketing initiatives, not only with regard to sport but a wider role regarding general strategy within the firmSpecialties: Radio commentary and reviewer for BBC Regional and Radio 5 Live Sports Programmes together with local independent Radio stations.TV commentary and reviewer for BBC, Sky, National and Regional TV.Author of numerous articles in national and regional press and journals in respect of sports matters and regular contributor to a monthly sports column in a local daily newspaper.
