Brief BioJohn David Hinze, DO, FCCP, FACP, DAABIPPulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Interventional PulmonologyJ.D. Hinze, DO, FCCP, FACP, DAABIP, is a Pulmonary Intensivist who specializes in Interventional Pulmonology. Although not born in Texas, he has lived most of his life in this great state. He graduated from the University of Texas in Austin, then graduated with honors from University of North Texas Health Science Center in 1992. He then went on to train at Scott & White in Temple Texas, finishing his Internal Medicine Residency in 1995. Dr. Hinze continued his training at Scott & White in Pulmonary and Critical Care medicine where he was selected as Chief Fellow. Under a shared program, he finished his PGY-6th year at University of Texas Health Science Center – San Antonio. His interest in Interventional Pulmonology began in fellowship and he has since attended numerous seminars, meetings, and mini fellowships across the country. Dr. Hinze holds board certifications in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Interventional Pulmonology.Dr. Hinze interests include: Critical Care (intensive care) Medicine, COPD, lung cancer, advanced diagnostic bronchoscopy including robotics, as well as the full breadth of his subspecialty in Interventional Pulmonology. This includes management of Critical Airway Disorders/Central Airway Obstructions where he constantly strives to bring the latest care and cutting-edge technology to his patients.He has lectured at numerous national and international conferences including CHEST and AABIP annual meetings, and serves as a scientific advisor for large medical device and pharmaceutical companies. He has been an Assistant Professor of Medicine at The University of Texas Dell Medical School where was an active faculty for the Pulmonary/CCM Fellowship. In addition, he has served on numerous committees across various hospital systems. Dr. Hinze strives to treat patients like they are close friends or family. Dr. Hinze is married to his wife of 30 years. In his spare time he enjoys exercise, reading, hunting, and taking care of their horses.
