While working for the Cardiology Department at The Methodist Hospital, I implemented the use of preconfigured hot swap computers for use in the cardiovascular surgical suite to minimize down time if a machine should fail during surgery. These machines were preconfigured for the nursing and anesthesia stations, and could be replaced by removing the failing machine, replaceing it with the new one and powering on. The replacement could be performed by any member of the staff, and took less than ten minutes. Training in psychology gives me a unique insight in to the needs of my customers so that I can more effectively serve them.
