In 2008 John married Ria Parry and together they run IRON SHOES, an independent theatre company promoting creative talent and focusing on the development of new work. Iron Shoes’ production of Crush won a Fringe First at the 2009 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In 2011 we won our second Fringe First with the brilliant new play "Mad About The Boy". We are hoping to tour the production in 2012.Iron Shoes is dedicated to making quality theatre that is engaging, honest and irresistible.We look to collaborate with exciting individuals and believe that great things can be achieved when people are challenged to surprise themselves in a safe and playful environment. We are interested in telling stories that fire the imagination, stimulate the senses and inspire the soul.

Frank Associates are a niche training consultancy with fifteen years experience of dealing with all aspects of personal impact. Christie Jennings and John Hoggarth set up the partnership with the aim of bringing honest and effective communication into the workplace. With strong links to the theatre, our training gives people an opportunity to practice their skills allowing them to return to work with techniques and strategies to achieve better communication.Our aim is to enable people to create frank open dialogue, whether it is in a meeting, a presentation, or one to one.

The National Youth Theatre is recognised as the leading youth arts organisation in the UK. The company has undergone a significant transformation that has seen its profile, audience and participation numbers all increase dramatically. John was part of a three person executive team responsible to the board of trustees. As co-artistic director he steered the artistic vision and policy of the company as well as developing a long-term strategy to secure the company’s continued success and security.
