A few months into my role as the Purchasing Coordinator with Valicor (now Trucent), the company was in the early stages of rebranding after its divestiture and had experienced the sudden loss of its Marketing Director. As a recent graduate, interested in marketing and business strategy, I partnered with the executive team to carry the company through the rebrand and launch of Trucent.

Began my post-graduation journey learning the ins and outs of how Valicor (now Trucent) operates, from an accounting and inventory management perspective. Here, I had the opportunity to regularly work with every department in the company, from the shop crew to the executive team. This experience gave me a real-world view of how operations, sales, marketing, engineering, manufacturing, etc. intersect. My efforts focused on ensuring all purchases and receipts tied-out at the end of the month, along with continuously improving purchasing and logistics processes to maintain an ISO 9001 standard of operation.

This internship position provided many opportunities to grow and develop business knowledge and experience in a professional capacity; below are a few of these opportunities. -Assist with business consultation-Put together business plans for entrepreneurs who need funding – including successfully raising State and Federal funds for various start-ups.-Completed a 4-week Introduction to Customer Discovery (ICD) program through the University of Michigan’s TechArb Accelerator with an Aquaponics client.-Perform market research in various industries including Restaurant, Distillery, Software as a Service (SaaS), Aquaponics, and Agriculture Technology.
