In 2015 I extended my field of interest to laboratory quality management and in August 2016 was appointed Quality and Safety Manager for the department.I retired in August 2019 after 42 years in the same department.

I worked in the microbiology laboratory of a large teaching hospital that provides tertiary services for the South West peninsula, including cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery and renal transplantation. The laboratory processes over 500,000 clinical specimens each year in diagnostic bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology, and molecular science.I have been a Biomedical Scientist for all my career and in 2001 was also appointed to the role of Health & Safety Officer.
