Senior Health, Safety & Environmental Manager working for Equinix UKWorking for the largest data centre company in the world, I'm currently employed as the UK's Senior HSE Manager. Working alongside a small HSE Team and the FM Manager, I have responsible for most aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental management across 12 data centres in both London and Manchester.The HSE Team set the agenda and strategic direction of the UK business in the critical role of maintaining compliance with all existing and proposed HSE legislation and best practice within the industry. This includes conducting general risk assessments, fire risk assessments, COSHH/DSEAR assessments, setting policy and carrying out HSE audits. Compliance with the requirements of the CDM Regulations is also a fundamental part of the role, as at any point in time the UK business has numerous CDM notifiable projects in operation. Working alongside the Permit Manager, I help maintain and set the direction of the UK e-permit (permit to work) system.Equinix is certified to ISO14001:2015 Environmental Management System and BS OHSAS18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management system at EMEA level. As a result, a large part of my role involves ensuring the UK business maintains compliance and adheres to the full requirements of each standard which are externally audited by LRQA (management system certification body).The UK HSE Team recently helped the business transition from the old ISO14001:2004 EMS standard to the new ISO14001:2015 standard.
