How do you benchmark success? To me, success is being the best husband and daddy as I can be whilst watching my children grow. This is my why. Professionally I want to be empowered and challenged. My experiences have taught me that the success I enjoy the most are the achievements gained when operating outside of my comfort zone. Who do I think I am?I enjoy delivering output - yes as an individual but more rewardingly for me leading or as part of a team. I have a passion for innovation, continuous improvement and implementing change through culture (to me culture is the things we do when nobody is looking), coaching, mentoring and facilitating optimal performance. I’m a firm believer that diverse thought within a team is the strength of any successful organisation (Matthew Syed – Rebel Ideas).I am a decisive and trusted leader that has developed a successful leadership style focused upon clarity, integrity, diversity, respect and empowerment. I pride myself on being a skilled exponent of the ‘soft skills’, effective communication, storytelling (in the military this is called ‘spinning dits’ – I have plenty), humour and public speaking.I’m currently employed as the Senior Combat Management Systems Project Manager within the Force Generation Department of the Royal Navy, with the additional responsibility for change and risk management budgets encompassed within the £200 Million Joint Support Service 2 (JSS 2) contract. My current role has provided me with the opportunity to influence the Royal Navy at a strategic level, mainly within combat management systems acquisitions and workforce training planning, with the addition as a departmental champion for tactical data analysts within Navy Command Headquarters. Excitingly, as the senior user for all in-service combat management systems, I am a senior stakeholder in combat management system future acquisitions projects, future synthetic training delivery projects and future individual training delivery solutions.I hold a Level 7 diploma in Strategic Leadership and Management and recently achieved Chartered Manager status, as well as holding a Level 5 CMI endorsed Coach and Mentor qualification. This as well as my experience has taught me that investing in teams and individuals is fundamental to creating and/or maintaining a high-performance environment that has the agility to successfully deliver valuable output in fast paced situations. As for my futureIt’s simple really. I want to be the best husband and daddy possible. Fulfilled, empowered and valued professionally.
