Founding Director of Mace's Data Centre and Technology business in 2005 & Founding Director Mace International Technology business in 2014.Delivered over 600MW of Data Centre capacity with over 40 years experience in the sector.John is a specialist engineer with 40 years’ experience in highly technical mission critical projects with particular specialism within the Data Centre sector where he has designed and delivered projects since 1979.John is currently responsible for Mace’s Data Centre & Technology Business Development & Generation including Design & Innovation across Mace's Four Engines - Develop, Consult, Construct & Operate.John is passionate about Mace’s priority to “Pursue a Sustainable World” and to create positive change that will redefine how Data Centres are delivered, both now and in the future, for the good of our planet.

Technical Director responsible for internal and external design teams of approx 30 multi-diciplined architects and engineers. We completed designs and construction services for data centres and telecom centres throughout the UK, Europe and Asia• Data Centre and Technical Project Consultant. Taking a brief from clients,compiling client’s requirement documents, then identifying and advising on designsolutions for power and environmental services. Space planning, leading all stagesof design, engaging professional services, surveys and reports, and due diligencestudies.• Design Management. Managing the in-house design team (at one stage 20 strong),leading in-house and external design teams; producing design programmes anddesign deliverables requirements; setting up and oversight of documentmanagement systems.• Proposal Management. Managing all stages of proposals including prequalificationdocumentation, tender management, subcontractor negotiations,contractor’s proposal documentation, tender programmes, cost plans, presentationmaterial and leading presentation teams.• Engineering Support. Managing Bellwater’s in-house Engineering teams workingon both Technical Projects and Fit Out, procurement of engineering subcontractorsand suppliers, assisting the project teams, programming, quality assurance,troubleshooting problems, overseeing integrated systems testing.• Project Management. Acting as Project Manager on some design based and highlytechnical projects.• Directing. Deploying Design and Engineering staff, managing cost centres andbudgets, overseeing the huge growth in Bellwater’s Data Centre and TechnicalProject work, establishing and maintaining relationships with potential clients,consultants and supply chain.

My role at Isovel was similar in nature to that at Bellwater except that I also hadsome oversight of the research and development of new ranges of Close ControlAir Conditioning systems for the sister company Isovel International Ltd.

I undertook a five year apprenticeship in Building Services at Sulzer. During thisperiod I worked in all departments of the company and on many varied projectsincluding Data Centres, Banks, Office Fit Outs, R&D facilities, Laboratories.
