The work we do at 4point2 is pretty diverse, but, in practice, much of it could fairly be put under the general heading of ‘helping improve the quality of financial and non-financial analysis in the sector to support better thinking and help people make better decisions’. South Yorkshire Housing Association is based in Sheffield and has its footprint across the city-region. It’s a lively and creative social housing business that’s also noteable for the size of its support and care services arm, LiveWell

Unity is a Leeds-based association that shows how you can combine a modern social housing business approach with having the same authentic and important BME and regeneration foundations that it has had right from the start.

Shoreline is the former stock transfer association for North East Lincolnshire council (the historic but economically challenged fishing port of Grimsby and the small but perfectly-formed seaside resort of Cleethorpes)

I was on the Executive Team at GHA from the immediate pre-transfer period through to its early years. An extraordinarily interesting but challenging time, as anyone involved will confirm! Remarkable what was actually achieved, thanks to the efforts of a whole range of exceptionally determined and capable people involved.

Manor and Castle Development Trust is a fantastic example of a community-led regeneration business, still going strong after 13 years. It's led the transformation of a large and deeply stigmatised area of Sheffield. I'm proud to say that I helped set it up and get it going successfully.

During a long and varied time at Sheffield City Council, I was responsible, at one time or another, for practically everything that had the word ‘housing’ attached to it, from housing management to the housing private sector. For the last few years, my role could fairly be summarised as the council’s lead for housing-related strategy, investment and regeneration. Sheffield always had a lot of talented people and was consistently one of the best housing services in the country.

Fantastic period for investment and renewal in Hillingdon, in the days when there was plenty of public money available (!) if you had good ideas for using it.

Scottish Special! A great place to learn and ahead of its time. Its successful approach to area-based management in Dundee and elsewhere was exactly the same as the exciting ‘new’ thinking that appeared 10-15 years later across the UK.
