Overall accountability for in-house product test capability and execution, with a heavy focus on automated parallel test.Responsible for managing and growing the Test Engineering team to six, and architecting test systems.Worked closely with production test and qualification activities.

I founded CamTest in 2010 so I could use my experience to produce bespoke test systems for the semiconductor, electronics and biotech industries. It focussed on automating existing manual test processes and procedures.Example projects:Timing generator for high-volume production test of mixed-signal controller IC- designed daughterboard for a basic mixed-signal tester's loadboard, comprising a CPLD and DACs, to improve waveform generation capability. Laid out PCB, wrote CPLD code, and supplied documentation.Rig for electrical characterisation of a biosensor array chip- NI PCIe FPGA card for digital data acquisition, Agilent DMM for analog measurements- designed all rack hardware including schematics, PCB layouts- up to 64 devices tested at once, with the majority of tests performed on all deviecs in parallel- software in LabView and LabView FPGA; results stored in MySQL database with web frontend for simple device management; Excel macros for result retrieval- two extra rigs constructed for moderate volume (several hundred per month) production test, requiring test time reduction, and ruggedness improvementsAutomated rig for characterisation of high-power (up to 4500V/1200A and 1200V/3600A) IGBTs under normal switching and short circuit operation, using both conventional and novel gate drives- developed basic rig architecture- hardware mainly off-the-shelf instruments- wrote software in LabView, MySQL database for result storage, and simple web interface for management of test samplesLegacy system maintenance / support / improvement- reworked LabView / LabView RT / LabView FPGA based microfluidics control to add datalogging, control of extra instrumentationProduction test development- wrote test specification for large sensor array chip- worked with external test development vendor / test house to develop hardware and software, and deploy resulting project

CamSemi designs low-cost mixed-signal SMPS control chips. I designed rack-and-stack test systems for them, and power supply applications using them. The test systems comprised a mixture of off-the-shelf instrumentation and bespoke electronics, with software written in-house. Data was collected into MySQL databases, with in-house software tools for data analysis and presentation.
