CurrentBusiness and on-air systems support in Windows and Mac OS for Scripps Detroit TV stations WXYZ/WMYD. Constantly exploring new equipment, software and video technologies to creatively relate news to viewers on web, OTT and "traditional" TV media. Technology is pushed to the breaking point - generally with great results and occasional behind the scenes failure (which is encouraged; a "non-success event" does not indicate failure). Learning and growing from a failure is most often the lesson and opportunity for growth. Coming away with, "Excellent; now we know for a fact that won't work," keeps WXYZ/WMYD in first place.Day-to-day IT duties challenge and motivate. What really is exciting is the Scripps Leadership Champion initiative. This Leadership facet of WXYZ/WMYD encompasses 5 principles: Model the Way, Inspire a Shared Vision, Challenge the Process, Enable Others to Act, and, Encourage the Heart. One of 3 individuals (of 240+ employees) to function as Leadership Champion tasked with educating each staff member in all 5 principles through continuing education in classroom-style sessions and constant adherence to these 5 principles. Personally, this has dramatically changed not only my work experience but my life's interactions at all levels. Encouraging, fostering and mentoring leaders from all ranks will ensure Scripps' success and long-term business goals. The best days here begin with, "Hey, I had this idea..."Work with Microsoft and Apple OS and related applications including AD, SCCM, MS Office and proprietary news-related software (Avid iNews, ProBrowse, etc.). Promise SAN (fiber and copper) connectivity through management in Apple environment. Server 2003/8/12, Win XP/7/10, Apple OS 10.x. Networking install, configuration and resulting troubleshooting. End-user support is extensive, challenging and always intriguing.
