John Kaminski is a Contracts and Procurement Specialist: Information Technology at Motiva Enterprises LLC. John worked directly for me in Pensiamo’s 2017 Summer Associate Program. During his internship John impressed me greatly by displaying the following aptitudes: • Eagerness and Ability to Learn: John likes to understand the why, not just the what. He asks thoughtful questions and quickly built a network of support to increase his knowledge base. It was fun to watch John connect the dots as he built a depth of supply chain understanding throughout the summer. • Creativity in Solving Problems: Rather than waiting for explicit direction, John takes a proactive approach in tackling challenges. He evaluates problems, proposes a course of action and then solicits feedback without ego. I found this quality particularly helpful as his initiative allowed me to react to well thought out ideas instead of being forced to provide direction at every turn. • Excellent Analytic Skills: John invested considerable effort evaluating and qualifying bidders for a key initiative in our sourcing department. He took ownership of this project by developing a dynamic evaluation template from scratch and presenting his findings to key supply chain executives. • Great Communication and Presentation Skills: On multiple occasions John presented to executives ranging from Vice President to CEO. On each occasion, he left a favorable and lasting impression on his audience. • Networking: John traveled 1300 miles across the country to intern at Pensiamo. Within weeks John went from being in a new place and knowing no one to building a network of support including his mentor, fellow interns, several full-time associates and an array of company leaders. I’ll close by saying that John’s most impressive qualities don’t show up on a list of “work aptitudes”. John is sincere, mature, and displays an incredible amount of integrity. One of my most memorable experiences of our summer together came from an Executive Vice President, who pulled me aside after John’s presentation and said, “The thing I like most about John is that he knows exactly who he is.” If you are fortunate enough to work with John, you’ll understand how high of a compliment that is."
