Grazing Management Specialist
I have returned to work for the USDA Field Office across Southern Ohio under an agreement with ODNR to develop Grazing Conservation Plans for Livestock Producers in Southern Ohio. The USDA field offices were finding it difficult to get grazing plans completed in a thorough and timely manner. Myself and co-worked and fellow USDA retiree, Dave Pqarry, met with producers, develop maps and plan narratives and provide those finished plans to the field office and producers. This allows the producers and NRCS managers to develop program contracts that address the natural resource needs of the farm, and livestock operation. These plans plan for providing water, resource protection, pasture rotation, and plant improvement on pastures throughout Southern Ohio.
Executive Director, Ohio Valley Rc&D
Since my retirement, I am serving the Council as its Executive Director, managing the day-to-day operations of the Non-profit public charity that works in a ten-county area of Southern Ohio. The RC&D provides support for a variety of natural resource conservation, water quality, and economic development intiatives throughout Southern Ohio.
Coordinator
I served as the Federal Coordinator assigned to provide oversight and leadership to the RC&D Council in the ten-County region in Southern Ohio. The operation provided services to are non-profits, citizen groups, and units of government. We provided project development, grantwriting, and coordination to important economic and natural resource conservation initiatives in Southern Ohio. The program partnership between regional RC&D sand USDA existed for 1964 to July of 2011. At that time there were 375 active Non-profit Councils throughout the United States.
Federal Coordinator
Served as the USDA Federal Cordinator for the non-profit RC&D in SW Ohio. The operation provided watershed management, grantwriting, grantwriting traing, and project development to loal and regional projects throughout SW Ohio.
District Conservationist
Served as a Resource Conservationist and District Conservtionist providing field office oversight and direct services to landowners in the planning and application of soil and waer conservation practices in the three counties in SE Minnesota and NW Ohio.
