Pensacola, Florida Area

This position covers both 3rd party reimbursement and revenue management. I am responsible for cost reports, audits, and appeals for Medicare, Medicaid, and Champus, as well as, the contractual adjustments for all payors (net revenue). BHC is a not for profit system with 4 hospitals and more than 6,400 employees.

Greater Denver Area

I was with SCLHS for almost 3 years. This role in addition to the Government Reimbursement duties, managed the aspects of Revenue Management related to AR valuation, contract modeling, Revenue Cycle reporting and Net Revenue analyses. I was responsible for recording, analyzing, and communicating net revenue/accounts receivable (AR) performance. SCLHS is a non-profit, faith-based system with 16 locations and more than 15,000 associates. It’s annual net revenue is approximately $2.4 billion.

Greater Denver Area

For seven years, I worked for Centura Health, a twelve-hospital health system in Colorado. Centura is a faith based organization, quite interestingly, it is a joint venture between Catholic Health Initiatives and Adventist Health System. This system includes short term acute hospitals, skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), rehab units, psych units, a transplant program, a home health agency, a physicians’ group, and an ambulance entity. The system also has several joint ventures and a hospice. I manage government payer reimbursement for seven of the hospitals, which include GME programs, a transplant program, rehab units, SNFs and the ambulance entity.

Tulsa, Oklahoma Area

For over three years, I was Director of Reimbursement for Hillcrest Healthcare System, a fourteen-hospital system in Oklahoma. This system included critical access hospitals, short term acute hospitals, a long term acute hospital, SNFs, rehab units, psych units, a transplant program, a histocompatibility lab, a home health agency, a physicians’ group, and an ambulance entity.

Tulsa, Oklahoma Area

I took a step back to come to HHS. I looked at it as an opportunity to get into the short term hospital corporate world. It seemed to have worked out for me. I completed Medicare Cost reports for the flagship hospital as well as the regional facilities. I also analyzed financial and statistical data used in reimbursement reports to determine accuracy, consistency from period to period, and effects on the organizations’ reimbursement and final settlements.

Tulsa, Oklahoma Area

I was eventually responsible for two long term acute facilities (LTACs). The Director of Finance position was responsible for all accounting duties within the two 32-bed hospitals including payroll, A/R, A/P, as well as billing and collections. Each facility had over 100 employees and each facility had over 7 million in gross revenues each year. Also, I managed the monthly and annual close, coordinated inventories and audits, and assisted in the daily operations of the facilities. I was also a member of the board of trustees.
