Started my career as a conductor of Broadway musicals in New York. Became the first symphonic conductor of Indigenous ancestry upon appointment to the Toronto Symphony in 1980. I became a producer of symphony concert events, ballet, and television. Known as a social entrepreneur, having established the National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation (now Indspire) and National Aboriginal Achievement Awards (now Indspire Awards) on CBC Television with a groundbreaking television audience of 2 million viewers. I am attributed with raising unprecedented corporate support for the Indigenous community through my charitable work. Served as the leader of Indigenous Relations for Brookfield Renewable Power, Hatch, Horizon Legacy and Glencore. I established and operated the Enbridge School Plus Program for Enbridge Pipelines Inc. Today, I work in the mining and energy space as lead negotiator and business advisor for Michipicoten First Nation. I have concluded Impact Benefit Agreements with Alamos Gold, Newmont Gold, Nextbridge on the East West Tie Transmission Line, Hydro One and Argonaut Prodigy Magino Gold Mine. I am a driven, effective, committed and passionate advocate for First Nations and have developed a reputation as being able to negotiate unprecedented benefits and agreements with tough and often unethical corporations. My achievements and career have been recognized through awards and distinctions such as the Order of Canada, Order of Ontario, six Honorary Doctorates and a slew of other awards and recognitions. I have enjoyed public service through my appointments to the boards of the CBC, Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and OCAD University.
