About John King Mimeche

Having come to the end of a very successful career within aviation, involving all aspects of Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Auditing in a very dynamic and ever-evolving organisation. Predominantly experienced within aircraft airworthiness, with a large emphasis on Tool Control, Human Factors, COSSH, PPE, Risk, H&S and KPI datasets to maximise operational output.I was duly responsible for ensuring all maintenance carried out is done so with airworthiness and safety at the forefront of maintenance-engineering technicians’ minds. I oversee the legal certification for a wide array of activities, all within a MAOS 145 and Mil-Std 147 environment. My independent expertise are called upon to great advantage when inspecting all works conducted, with my acceptance being sought prior to release of aircraft to aircrew.Capable of fault diagnosis, rectification, preventative and scheduled maintenance involving boroscoping and remote viewing aids, along with an ability to manage complex and diverse programmes for single or multiple stakeholders, addressing project compliance and providing leadership to internal and external clients. I am able to build upon existing relationships with industry leaders, empathically taking on board any feedback while remaining accountable for all outcomes within my remit. Having left the RAF I have found myself back in the military environment, instructing in mechanical systems. I started instructing at RAF Cosford for over 3 years a role I very much enjoyed and felt it enhanced my engineering skills. Currently I am working again as an instructor at Qatar Technical Institute in Doha. I have been here over a year and it is a role I find challenging but very satisfying. I am still seeking new and diverse roles that will look to challenge me and are able to utilise my skill sets effectively going forward.

Covering hydraulic mechanical aircraft systems, in both classroom and aircraft hangar environments.Ancillary duties include lesson preparation and the production of training support material.Responsibilities comprise the control and supervision of students including the application of Health and Safety and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations.Adjust teaching methods to allow for specific student requirements and cultural differences & abilities.

Aug 2019 - Jan 2024

Engineering Authorisations, Standards & Training Manager

Regularly instigating testing procedures, as part of audits, to assess reliability, capability and overall performance, along with aligning engineering initiatives with strategic business direction, supporting the performance management cycle and instigating training programmes to cater for professional development. As a champion of quality assurance and lean fundamentals, I often scrutinise processes, looking for efficiencies and ways to streamline activities to affect ways in which we conduct our maintenance. It is without saying that although streamlining processes, airworthiness and safety is never compromised. All of this management output is over and above expectations while also managing expectations of my team and my own professional development. Dealing with various policies from a multifaceted area of operations, whereby I deliver quality audits over an annual audit programme for the unit. From the grass roots level, instilling quality as a culture amongst the personnel employed on this Unit; I am also required to analyse audit findings and Quality Occurrence Reports, trending all data to identify pinch points and mitigate risks during subsequent audit programmes.

2012 - Apr 2019

Mechanical Engineering Supervisor

Within this role I managed a large dynamic team responsible for the rectification, preventative and scheduled maintenance of aircraft, while maintaining airworthiness. It was vital that aircraft tooling was strictly controlled to ensure the elimination of aircraft incidents and reduction in flight risk. Accountability for circa 30 multi-faceted aircraft engineers, assessing the suitability to perform engineering activities against individual core competency data, coupled with ensuring engineers were nominated for relevant courses to maximise efficiency along with personal and professional development. It was also necessary by nature of my position and rank to carry out independent checks, covering zonal maintenance elements of each aircraft, where I would be sole signatory and self-supervisor for maintenance and hold senior engineering authority over and above general engineering roles. This required a firm grip on the aircraft, its internal workings, both physically and theoretically and a complete understanding for all maintenance procedures and their contents in order to complete various engineering activities. Not only this, but I regularly conducted dynamic Risk, COSHH and H&S Assessments for multiple workplaces and tasks to ensure a suitable environment was provided for all staff to conduct their duties, taking necessary steps to ensure compliance with legislation and taking into account all H&S responsibilities associated with this position.

2002 - 2012 ~10 yrs

Mechanical Depth Maintenance Support Engineer

This position saw me in direct support of front line engineers; providing in-depth scheduled and rectification maintenance to allow them to conduct their jobs and support operational output in a 24/7 call-out capacity. Often investigating complex faults, not able to be diagnosed or rectified at 1st Line; this role still remains focused on its delivery targets with output being a key factor in support to global operations and at unit level. The management aspect of this role requires me to design bespoke management systems for ease of use by multiple-engineering staff, highlighting manning data sets and competency shortfalls in order to better prioritise manpower and distribute resources accordingly. Still operating in an environment where quality and KPIs have a large emphasis on output, I also provide feedback-based performance appraisals for each member of staff working within my team.
