TechConnex is the only member-directed industry association in the GTA focused on the growth of tech businesses and their people through the sharing of best practices, business insights and bright ideas. Members are at the forefront when it comes to obtaining information, insight and action on matters of importance in the technology cluster. Since 1982 TechConnex has been a strong voice for everyone in the GTA tech cluster – supporting business developers, innovators, suppliers, and providers.The Board of Directors plans and implements TechConnex strategies and activities to enhance member learning, networking and information sharing opportunities. The Board are busy professionals and active volunteers that serve in a volunteer capacity, representing the interests of all members of the Association, advancing the business climate for the region's technology sector and the service industries that support it.I was previously on the Board of Directors of the York Technology Alliance (now TechConnex) from 2003 to 2012 and held positions of: Vice Chair, Chair and Past Chair. I was asked to rejoin the Board in 2017 From 2013 to 2017, I co-facilitated the Downtown Tech Executives Peer Group with Andrew Nunes, partner at Fasken Martineau. CEO's Presidents, and COOs in fast-growth technology companies attended the monthly peer group. Guest speakers were invited whereby they shared their expertise with the group. This open format brought lively discussions with a focus on improving strategies and tactics for business success.

Many of the products and services were subscription based and distributed in a variety of formats including CD-ROM and the Internet. The company had long term contracts with government agencies such as the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) and the Canadian Patent Office for the organization and dissemination of information to the public. Micromedia was a major Canadian distributor of information products and services for numerous Canadian and American organizations. The company was sold in 1997 to the IHS Group, Englewood, Colorado

Applied Learning Canada was a division of National Education Training Corporation; a public company with headquarters in Irvine, California. Applied Learning specialized in the sales and implementation of information technology training programs and automated self-educational programs to large corporations and governments. The Canadian division was sold to SHL Systemhouse in 1993.
