Currently a Technical Leader for a group in Dow's Core R&D organization. This role utilizes my skills in people development, project portfolio management, stakeholder management (across multiple organizations and geographies), and technical expertise. Trained as a synthetic chemist with experience ranging from small molecule to polymer synthesis and organometallic catalysis. Significant experience in controlled and living polymerization techniques. As a member of Dow's Core R&D organization, worked on projects supporting Dow Water, Polyurethanes, Specialty Plastics, and Electronic Materials businesses. Initiated and led a university collaboration with Professor Craig Hawker at UCSB; resulted in multiple patent filings and high impact publications in the area of controlled radical polymerization. Obtained a PhD in 2008 from Cornell University studying catalytic carbonylation of epoxides to beta lactones and their subsequent polymerization to biodegradable polyesters. Authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed publications, a book chapter, and numerous patent applications (6 issued US patents). Certified as a Six Sigma Green Belt Project Leader.Graduated from Grinnell College with a BA in chemistry and environmental studies.
