Worked in Food Services, filling grocery carts with donated food for people who only had drivers license identification.

Retired and relocated to Santa Rosa. Rick has been a homebrewer for the past five years. He is very interested in visiting the many small craft breweries in the Santa Rosa area. He also brews with his son, Andy, who lives in San Rafael.

Rick is currently driving a school bus for the MUSD (2013).

As a software quality engineer (SQE), Mr. Krone was responsible for assuring that P&W software processes followed documented procedures. He was the quality representative on the Project Constellation team for performing software process audits. He wrote the software quality assurance plan for the Constellation Vehicle Maintenance Computer (VMC) project. He also performed product and process audits on software that used the scaled practice software process (SPSP) development methodology. Mr Krone was instrumental for P&W attaining the Capability Maturity Model (CMM) Level 3 assessment.ASQ Computer Software Quality Engineer, CSQE, recertified March, 2009

Testing: Mr. Krone perfomed testing on the Integrated Process and Program Development Program (IPPD).

Mr. Krone was responsible for ensuring proper procedures were followed in the Formal Qualification Test (FQT) of the International Space Station's (ISS) Electric Power System Flight Software. This included witness of qualification of the FQT test bed and monitoring of FQT test procedure execution. He conducted process and product audits of software products in accordance with guidelines (including risk assessment) developed by the software process group. He provided SQA inputs to the team responsible for attaining the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) Levels 4 and 5 software development ratings. He wrote and issued Corrective Action Reports (CARs) for non-compliance to SQA and ISS policies and procedures. He participated in peer reviews and interfaced with the software development and test groups, configuration management, NASA, and government (DCMC) auditors to ensure that corrective actions were performed in a timely manner. He traced software requirements to test documentation using a modified version of his FoxPro requirements traceability program. He reviewed technical documentation and produced metrics on anomalies found by using a Microsoft Access Database system which he originated.

Mr. Krone consulted weekends on IV&V for the AUTOFIRE* real-time holmium heart myocardial laser revascularization system being developed; . He performed requirements traceability and wrote test plans and procedures in accordance with ANSI/IEEE standards (STD 829-1983) for the Motorola 68332 based safety critical microprocessor system.

Duties/Responsibilities: Mr. Krone documented DOD-STD-2167A test procedures into a Software Test Description (STD) and ran the Formal Qualification Testing (FQT) of the F-14A/B Upgrade program Mission Data Processor (MDP) Operational Flight (OFS) software. This equipment utilized MIL-STD-1553B buses. He conducted these test procedures on the MDP AYK-14 test set at the FQT at NAWC/Point Mugu. Mr. Krone adapted an automated requirements traceability database program in the dBASE IV language for the tracing of the MDP OFS software requirements specifications (SRS). Prior to this task, Mr. Krone was the F-14D QA Section Manager and supervised one technical person. For the F-14D task, Mr. Krone performed test planning for the Mission Computer Subsystem (MCS). This task included the development and documentation of avionics tactical software test techniques, software development documentation standards, and configuration management practices for Pt.
