John competes on motorbikes, mountain bikes, fell races. He has a Masters in Yachting from the RYA, is in a ski race team, flies aeroplanes & is an ex-rally driver. He loves speed and owns the trademark LOVE SPEED.His expertise spans broadcast, film, publishing, theatre, marketing. As well as being a producer director, John has written two best sellers, ‘Grand Prix the Killer Years’ & ‘Butcher Boy’.An entrepreneur, started his working life working for his dad’s successful retail business, before going to Durham University to study Philosophy. His hardback about working for his dad is a best seller.John set up Bigger Picture Studios in 2003, originally a direct to market production/publishing company. John developed the business into an international broadcast production house and is now sold in 65 countries with an audience of over 100 million worldwide.John has worked in feature film production & development. He was 2nd Unit Director on Roger Corman movie ‘Trained to Kill’. John’s film ‘Deadliest Crash’ [BBC] was nominated for the prestigious Grierson Award for Best History Film. ‘Grand Prix the Killer Years’ [BBC] was longlisted for a BAFTA, winning the Members Vote. Bigger Picture has won many awards at the Milan FICTS International Film Festival & has also won BBC Top Gear Film of the Year.John recently took a sabbatical to study full time for a Masters in Screenwriting at the Northern Film School in Leeds. He adapted ‘Romeo and Juliet’, ‘Little Red Riding Hood’, producing two full length feature film scripts.John lectures in film for the University of Bolton, prior for Chester University and Ripon and York St John University, & guest lectured at Salford University.John directs plays and runs directing actor workshops. He directed ‘April in Paris’ at the Millgate Arts Centre.John specialises in commercial film work, including: pre-production, script, filming, editing, delivery. Recently made series for Regatta and made an educational programme for BHIT, sent to every high school in the country. John has headed up all the marketing at Bigger Picture.
