Run and operated by Holt Logistics Corp., Gloucester Terminals is a shipping terminal that services commodities from bulk raw steel to fruit produce. The terminal has the largest refrigerated warehouse in North America, and handles product from all over the world. I followed various senior mangers of the stevedoring division, the Del Monte warehouse, the reefer warehouse, the dry division, the container division, and the mechanic shop. My responsibilities included learning and observing the operations at the terminal, targeting specific areas of inefficiency, making suggestions for improvement, and acting as a supervisor in the Del Monte warehouse. I submitted a final report to the manager of terminal operations outlining my observations, and making suggestions on how to improve both the operational and structural inefficiencies at the company.

The Jackson Laboratories is a research laboratory dedicated to discovering the genetic basis for preventing, treating and curing human disease. I was selected to participate in the Jackson Laboratories Summer Student Program. I researched in a lab under Dr. Kevin Mills for genetic cures and treatments for Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. My time in the program culminated in an extensive research paper, which I presented to the program, primary investigators, and management at the labs.
