Starting as an apprenticed engineering Patternmaker working in wood and metal using traditional methods, additional skills have been constantly added, notably with the development of Computer aided engineering and use of CNC and CADCAM. These new discipline's gained me the position of Technical design manager at a leading UK Patternmaker ( Automotive Patterns ) before taking a position with an independent design company providing sevices for all the major UK Patternmakers and foundries. However with the decline of the foundry industry and a desire to return to what I enjoyed most, working with my hand in wood. I joined a small company producing wonderful bespoke kitchens and projects in wood and solid surface. However the solid surface aspect grew to be a bigger part of the business than the woodworking resulting in a new company being formed specialising in it (Wharf solid surface) My computer aided engineering skills assisted in developing the manufacturing methods that have made Wharf solid surface a leading UK supplier. But once again wishing to return to my core skills of woodworking I formed my own company with the goal of producing quality bespoke woodworking. Relocating to Somerset has now allowed me to step back from running a company and make the things I want to.
