As Construction and Facilities Management Manager I have dual responsibilities in the development of new projects as well as the management of an extensive existing portfolio of facilities with 20,000 apartment units. Further, I am designated as the technical and construction lead for certain special purpose projects including Energy-Utility Use Reduction Retrofits.The projects are primarily humanitarian in nature, providing affordable housing opportunities on a nationwide basis. My direct responsibilities include the contracting and supervision of design professionals including Architects and Engineers, as well as General Contractors for the implementation of projects. These responsibilities also include site selection, program development, acquisition strategies, due diligence, and the evaluation of finance options and budget constraints.The projects require multiple funding sources. They must also meet various Federal, State and local Municipality mandates and standard procedures.Special purpose projects include the HUD sponsored Green Retrofit Project for properties in the existing portfolio. This resulted in an invitation to the White House Solar Summit in 2014.The existing portfolio and new projects are distributed throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.Also for Asset Management, produced an Executive White Paper on Sustainable Upgrades; a five tiered approach to retrofitting properties for energy efficiency.

Arlington , VA US08/2006 – 11/2008As Development Manager/Design and Construction for the development arm of a major General Contractor, I was responsible for the construction management of The Phoenix at Clarendon, Arlington, Virginia, I was directly responsible for the coordination of the design and technical teams and Turner Construction the General Contractor/Construction Manager, for the on time delivery of a complex $100M project. Acting as the Owners designated representative, I maintained communication between the design team consultants and the builder for the resolution of design and technical issues, while advancing the schedule for an on-time delivery.Acting as the Owners on site representative I reviewed daily the work in place as well as project status reports on field construction matters. Periodic presentations were made to keep other key team members apprised on issues of quality, cost and schedule.The Phoenix has won multiple awards as a mixed use project integrating residential, office and retail uses with a historic post office. The project has required a broad knowledge of methods, precedents and standards based on its significantly diverse program, site and work complexities

The mission of the company was to acquire and redevelop underutilized assets by upgrading the use, appearance, systems, efficiency and technology of outdated buildings to create new value in prime locations on the Eastern Seaboard. The firm merged with the Archon Group as the real estate operating company for their financial partner Goldman & Sachs.Responsibilities included site and building development including tenant improvements for office, industrial, residential and retail projects as represented by Parkway 100. This project repositioned an industrial building in the Baltimore-Washington Corridor to 225,000 square feet of office space with an additional 100,000 square feet of new R&D office development. Responsibilities included all phases of design and construction including efforts in securing CSC as a tenant for more than half the project.

As a Principal and Partner in a fifty person firm providing Architecture, Planning and Interior Architecture services, I directed the Space Planning-Interior Architecture Group and the Mission Critical Facilities Group. I was responsible for all phases of work including project management, marketing, presentation, design, engineering, construction and implementation. In addition to both managing and mentoring the staff and monitoring the activities of the firm, I provided direct Project Design and Construction Management services. Significant office, research and academic projects in Dulles Virginia included a 250,000 square foot, $30M office campus for CACI and a 30,000 square foot, $6M facility for AHOLD, the Netherlands based holding company. Also in the Maryland Tech Corridor, the national headquarters for ANDO a Japanese optical testing company and academic facilities for Montgomery College at the Center for Information Technology similar to ANDO in size and scope at 30,000 square feet and $2.5M interior construction cost.Also directed, a 150,000 square foot, $30M, Mission Critical Data Center in Northern Virginia for AT&T which was nominated by the Washington Business Journal as one of the regions Most Significant Special Purpose Facilities of 2000. In Washington’s NOMA area, directed the urban and facility design for a 1 million square foot mission critical data center for Level (3) Communications designed with dual use potential as an office/retail building. A special exception for expanded use was secured based on my testimony provided at a public hearing process for the Office of Zoning. While not implemented, the building was used by the Zoning Office as a model for assessing this project type.

As Principal of a firm provided interior architecture services for space planning, adaptive reuse and reconstruction projects to various clients including area businesses and developers as well as Fortune 500 companies. The cumulative total was in excess of 20 million square feet with a construction value in excess of $500 million. The firm also teamed extensively with the Trammell Crow Company and shared office space with their Northern Virginia Division.In a public private partnership for James Madison University, in Harrisonburg, Virginia, the firm formed a Design-Build team with a local General Contractor, to provide for the adaptive reuse of existing historic buildings on Court Square. The buildings were modified to student housing and mixed use facilities with $2M of improvements for building and site modifications. Documentation was provided for approvals at both state and JMU project reviews. In addition to being responsible for all architectural design and construction drawings, I managed construction as the Owner’s Representative.
