I’m an engineer turned technology lead with over 7 years’ experience actualising SGD30M tech projects (ML, Space Missions, SATCOM-on-the-Move) and SGD5M in national research initiatives for GLCs across Singapore.A tinkerer at heart, I was always drawn to modifying things to improve their properties. I recall my time in primary school where I learnt about electromagnets which made me want to build the strongest one possible to impress my peers.I knew I needed a powerful source of electricity. My (naïve) solution was to stick a pair of scissors into the wall socket and connect it to my circuit, successfully liberating 4 classes from lessons. My friends were thrilled; my principal was not. A valuable lesson was learnt that day, and I was sure to always seek experts before embarking on an experiment. In doing so I’ve expanded my toolbox considerably, picking up skills in CAD, simulations, and web app development.I returned to Singapore after my studies in the US and began my career in DSO National Laboratories where I rose the ranks to become their Deputy Programme Director.
