It may surprise many of you reading this but my initial entry into data and technology was marked with failure not success. As a finance student, I struggled so much with my first programming exposure that I had to drop the class. Despite many others encouraging me to solely focus on finance, something told me that technical and programming skills would be important for my future. The next semester, I returned to the same Python course with renewed determination, investing 10x as much effort to grasp the fundamentals and successfully pass. I didn't know it at the time, but that decision paved the way for the rest of my journey and proved to be transformative.While working in finance, I continued to build up my technical skills further and take on increasing challenging technical projects- starting with basic automation script and eventually working my way up to increasingly complex data analysis and pipeline development. Each success bolstered my resolve to keep learning and exploring the fascinating world of data science and Machine Learning.In 2022, I make a decisive decision to leave my finance roots behind and jump head first into a technical roles, its a decisive that again proved transformative. Within 18 months, and a few setbacks along the way, I progressed from writing SQL queries to implementing AI and ML models from scratch processing millions of records. Meanwhile, my Python skills which were still developing when I made the initial transition have improved drastically, and I have become both proficient and efficient in implementation. Today, I work at the intersection of data science and ML, building AI-enable solutions that drive substantial business impact and value for one of the largest companies in the world.This year I made yet another big leap and I enrolled in the University of Texas Austin post-graduate program in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and will be completing the program in February 2025. My experience has shown and proven to me that no matter the starting point, its possible to self-learn technical skills and complex ML concepts as long as you have the persistence to keep pushing forward when its hardest. I'm passionate about pushing the boundaries of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning while maintaining a focus on high impact and interpretability.
