Project summary: The CAMDS (Chemical Agent Munitions Disposal System) was an aged industrial facility that was used for research of procedures to destroy chemical weapons. CAMDS contained various mission critical operating HVAC, EMCS, chemical agent monitoring and a variety of computer controlled systems for toxic chemical operations in 23 buildings. Redundant utility power was backed up by UPS and redundant generator plants. During operations and decommission, strict compliance to State/Federal environmental agencies was maintained. URS operated client’s site providing engineering, logistical and maintenance. Closure involved detailed investigation and research with minimal documentation available.
