John is an Developer, Architect & Consultant , with 40 years experience in Property, specialising particularly in the Retirement Sector & Major Infrastructure Projects.After practicing as an architect, he obtained an MBA and worked for the Boston Consulting Group as a Strategy Analyst on a wide range of public & private sector projects, including the Business Plan for Homebush Bay, site of the 2000 Olympics & AUSTRADE's Strategic Plan. He left BCG to be the Founding Head of the Urban Projects Unit in the NSW PWD, which initiated over forty projects involving government assets, including what has now become Barangaroo. Entities in which John has been a Principal have undertaken a range of developments, including ‘The Arbour’, RV in Berry, The Elizabeth Street Pier & The Silos Redevelopments in Hobart.While developing, he has continued to consult for such clients as the Sydney Airport, Sydney Markets, National Capital Authority, Lewis Land Corp, FEDEX, Aevum and the Hoyts Cinema Group.Projects for which he has either been the Architect or Developer have won four National Design Awards. He is currently on the Advisory Board of Australasian Property Partners, part of the HCAP Development Group, and lectures on Property Development in the Master of Planning at Sydney University. John’s specialisation is ‘Highest & Best-use’ studies of development sites, utilising the strategic & financial skills he acquired at BCG, together with his design understanding, to evaluate the optimal use of the assets. In doing this, he can claim to have a rare perspective on the drivers of property value, having been on both sides of the desk between developer/designer; client/consultant and the public/private domains.John has now moved the base of his operation to Hobart, in order to concentrate on some Tasmanian development projects, while continuing to service others in Sydney.
