• Refactored and extended a computer vision system for autonomous vehicle positioning. ◦ Performed a large-scale redesign and refactoring of extended Kalman filter code while also adding new features as requested by stakeholders. Employed SOLID object-oriented design principles. Utilized automated unit and integration tests to prevent regressions. Refactored code was adopted by several other projects in the research division. ◦ Developed an algorithm to smoothly handle missing GPS messages, resulting in my inclusion on a patent application (Appl. No. 15/703588). • Developed a deep learning image classification Android application. ◦ Worked extensively with Android NDK/JNI to interface with our C/C++ deep learning framework. ◦ Interfaced with the lower-level Camera API to efficiently pass image data to native code. ◦ Managed app threading model to avoid blocking Android UI thread and underlying native code. ◦ Collaborated with the User Experience team to design and implement new UI features. • Improved and maintained a web-app-based IDE for creating spiking neural networks. ◦ Developed both back-end C++11 code and front-end Javascript code. ◦ Adapted to a complex threading model imposed by an underlying third-party framework. ◦ Utilized Cucumber behavior driven development framework to ensure quality.
