Founder, Kenny Hester, entered the transmission business out of necessity. Short on cash and in need of a transmission repair, he used his “whatever it takes attitude” and made the repairs himself. After this first success, he began repairing manual transmissions for other drag racers, sometimes on his wife’s kitchen table when the weather was bad. In 1970, he opened Bluelick Transmission and Radiator Repair. The business continued to grow, and in 1979, Hester started distributing new, used, and remanufactured transmission parts as Hester Transmission Parts (HTP). The HTP brand grew through additional product offerings and company acquisitions until HTP itself was acquired by the ATC Distribution Group in 1994.After Mr. Hester left ATC, he later formed WIT Transmission Parts.
