Development of disruptive innovations

• Specified, project managed and led the integration of Owlstone's novel sensors into two products.• Technical Project Manager and Technical Authority of a multidisciplinary engineering team encompassing scientists, mechanical & software engineers and algorithm developers to achieve results on extremely tight schedules.• Pioneered the transition of the technology from the lab into real world systems.• Design of thermal & fluidic systems, characterisation of complex systems, failure analysis & transfer to production.

• Developed Owlstone's novel chemical sensor & aligned with industry standard interfaces.• Invented and developed a novel corona discharge ionisation giving a ten-fold cost saving.• Optimised systems using multi-physics modelling.• Designed, conducted and standardised experiments.• Developed fabrication & assembly processes from scratch to transfer to production.

Working in the micro devices group developing low-cost fluidic systems for;micro-fluidic diagnostics,micro-droplet generation for inhalation,miniature liquid and gas pumps for a variety of applications (including co-inventor of TTP's award winning Disc Pump technology),and the sensors and systems enabling these elements.

Design of test reticles for advanced optical lithography (193mn).This was part of an international project characterising of electrical versus electron microscope line width measurements.

Worked alongside the lithography group in university holidays. Implemented Statistical Process Control for a critical lithography step in a volume DRAM process leading to improved yield.
