"John Webb, Registered Social Worker, Nova Scotia. John is from Halifax and since 1999 has been the Provincial Director of Nova Scotia's Emergency Social Services program, working with the NS Dept of Community Services. John is also the Chair of the Council of Emergency Social Services Directors (CESSD) of Canada and is a social services coach for the Canadian Emergency Preparedness College's EOC/SITE course in Ottawa. Before becoming ESS Director in NS, John was the District Manager in Halifax responsible for the Income Assistance and Employment Support programs, while doing emergency preparedness as "other duties" for approximately 20 years. He has been involved in 55 mid-size or large scale emergencies in Nova Scotia since 1996, including Swiss Air 111 crash in 1998,The Sunrise Manor fire in 2008, Sept 11, 2001, Hurricane Juan, etc. In October of 2005, John had the opportunity to go to Louisianna as an American Red Cross volunteer for three weeks, where he managed a Red Cross shelter.
