John has 40+ years experience leading business transformation as a business and technology executive, executive advisor, management consultant, research director, and account executive. He is the author of 20+ publications and public speaker with 100+ appearances. He is adept at guiding organizations big and small through transformational change. John cut his management consulting teeth working for his father who had a distinguished career leading KPMG's public transit practice for 20+ years. After graduating UVA, John worked at AT&T Bell Laboratories specializing in business process re-engineering and co-authoring AT&Ts Process Quality Management & Improvement Guidelines. John also led business process transformation initiatives as a direct report to the CEO, AT&T-Unisource (Amsterdam) following the deregulation of telecom in Europe, and as the Global VP Business Process Management at NCR corporation. John left his position at NCR to join a 3-person startup that built large-scale digital libraries. He landed a $5.5M contract with Universal Studios and moved the team to LA. John also added BMG (NYC), the Library of Congress (DC), and several LA-based .coms as clients. John's toughest career day was the day he wrote 80 pink-slips and said goodbye to many great friends Dec 2000… the internet bubble had burst. He pivoted back to corporate where he led a team of 100+ FTEs that maintained the websites and developed new digital tools for Warner Brothers' record labels and many of their artists.John returned to his consulting roots with Gartner and was immediately recognized by the SoCal sales team as Consultant of the Year. He became a global road-warrior for the next 8 years with a long list of Fortune 500 projects and happy clients. He worked at Ernst & Young for 3 years leading major projects at Toyota and McKesson. He returned to Gartner as a CIO research analyst for 5 years specializing in Strategy, Governance, Operating Models, and Org Design. His first Gartner publication, New CIO Responsibilities in a Digital Business World, was the most downloaded Gartner research publication for a year. John finished his 20 year run as an executive adviser with InfoTech supporting 50+ clients across 12 industries and time zones… and so John retired. After nearly a year of playing golf and visiting old friends, John has re-purposed Quest Consulting, his 4th start-up, as a wellness and consumer advocacy company. He’s now busier than ever!
