John has 40 years experience with environmental assessment and resource/regulatory issues throughout the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. John has extensive experience in coastal environments and the planning and design of navigation facilities, restoration of shoreline habitats and remediation of contaminated sediment sites. John came to consulting in 2007 with 32 years of experience with the federal government; the last 20 years at U.S. EPA, Region 10 where he was the Regional Expert and Team Leader of the Sediment Management Program and provided regulatory and technical consultation to national EPA programs and other federal agencies and States. He provides on-call service as a regulatory and strategy specialist for dredging and contaminated sediments issues and the interpretation of policies and practices of U.S. EPA and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, particularly CERCLA, CWA, MPRSA, and NEPA. He advises governments and industries in meeting multimedia environmental requirements related to marine and freshwater environments, sediment management, and contaminated site remediation and restoration.
