It has expanded rapidly through a series of large acquisitions and a transformation of its technology function is now underway. The role is to help deliver a global, utility based, model for the delivery and support of standardised commodity IT services.

Interim engagement on behalf of my company, JJP Consulting, providing executive IT management services to companies engaged in technology transformation initiatives.Engaged to lead a business-critical IT service transition for UK Power Networks, UK’s largest power distribution company, with 8 million connected customers in London and South Eastern England. The role was to create an internal IT operations function, reporting to the CIO, and to manage the total separation of all systems, networks and operational processes from the original parent company, EDF Energy, against a fixed deadline and within a multi-vendor outsourced service model. The challenge was to complete that separation in all aspects within six months of joining and then to be ready to provide a full, standalone operational service in time to support the 2012 London Olympic Games, for which UK Power Networks was the principal supplier of distributed power in all key Olympic and Paralympic venues. This was achieved extremely successfully with all key milestones and financial objectives met and with no interruption to any services leading up to or during the events.
