I'm John. I believe I can help. For 20+ years in the architecture profession, I've been involved in projects that vary in scale from deck additions and kitchen remodels to medical research lab / treatment facilities and mega-malls. I've maintained an approach to the career that's not specialty-driven, which has allowed me to gain experience & knowledge in a variety of building types, design solutions & delivery methods. If you add a deep curiosity for technology to that - you get a 'me'. A guy who started in residential design because I already knew CAD, before setting foot in architecture school. I've gone from tech curiosity to working on projects around the world. I can't think of a career that I love more than the practice of architecture. I redline drawings and build BIM libraries for fun (who does that right?). I'm fortunate to be one of those people who found what he loves, and gets to participate in it. Its equal parts challenging and rewarding, and I'm driven to solve problems - whether they be figuring out programming, detailing, better ways to speed up efficiency, teaching/learning new things or just why the stupid printer won't work - I'm captivated. Perhaps my favorite part of the whole profession is the creative exchange of ideas. "What if we ________" spins off to more expressions and detail conditions and the whole 'machine' kicks in to gear. Off one statement. It all gets balanced against budget, time, and a hundred variables to explore achievable aspirations. If I'm not engaged in the creation of ideas and drawings, I'm usually on the tech side building tools and learning methodologies for better ways to improve the process. Whether you're a firm in need of a team member who loves to teach/learn and create, someone who needs a short-term staffer to crank out an existing conditions model or you're a home owner who really wants to better communicate what you'd like your home to look like after renovations - I believe I can be a resource.
