John is a Civil Engineer with over 40 years’ experience in all engineering facets of the subdivision and land development industry. His experience includes construction supervision, contract administration, and infrastructure design and documentation and master planning for small and large-scale land development projects.John joined SMEC predecessor companies in 1985 after 8 years’ experience in local government involving infrastructure development and approval process.John’s key role within the SMEC Urban Development Group is Chief Technical Principal-Urban Engineering and Principal Project Manager. He overviews the technical processes and quality assurance within the team. He also has project managed numerous residential developments, as well as due diligence investigations and reports on land development projects. Current projects include Harpley Estate, The Point, Oakdene Estate, Curlewis Park Estate. Past projects include Caroline Springs, Mill Park Lakes, Mernda Villages, Patterson Lakes,, Hawkstowe Estate and many more.John was a founding Director of SM Urban Pty Ltd from 2007 to 2011.John has made a significant contribution to the Land Development Industry and has participated in Water Industry Liaison Committee from 1997 – 2010, was a member of the Drainage Scheme Review Group which prepared “Principles for Creating Drainage Schemes” Nov 2003. John was the longest serving member of the Association of Land Development Engineers (ALDE) from 1995 – 2010 and served as President in 2002-04. In 2011, John was awarded the “Bill Foley Award” for services to ALDE.John was a founding member of the Victorian branch of the Storm Water Industry Association (Now Stormwater Victoria) and was an active member from 1997 – 2003.
