Wildlife biologist and cofounder of Keystone Ecological Services. Over 10 years of experience conducting a variety of rare, threatened, and endangered species surveys including bats, Allegheny woodrat, northern flying squirrel, northern redbelly turtle and other herptiles, and plants. Current USFWS Recovery permittee for the federally endangered Indiana, northern long-eared, and Virginia big-eared bats throughout much of their ranges. Perform natural resource inventories and habitat and impact assessments including above species. Conduct wetland delineations and monitoring throughout the northeastern US.

Conducted and supervised summer bat mist netting, radio telemetry, bat banding, radio transmitter applications, roost emergence counts, and field reconnaissance. Weighed, identified, and affixed transmitters to various species of bats including the northern long-eared bat (Myotis septentrionalis), eastern small-footed bat (M. leibii), and silver-haired bat (Lasionycteris noctivagans). Conducted Indiana bat (M. sodalis) and northern long-eared bat habitat assessments based on potential roost trees, nearby water sources, and forested corridors. Conducted habitat assessments and radio telemetry surveys for the Allegheny woodrat (Neotoma magister). Assisted fellow biologists with other biological surveys including timber rattlesnake, spotted and northern redbelly turtles, forest regeneration, wetland delineations and monitoring, and rare and invasive plants. Created scientific reports including GIS mapping to update clients and state and federal agencies.

Surveyed over 100 potential eastern tri-colored bat (Perimyotis subflavus) hibernacula to determine the presence or absence of WNS by means of visual signs, swabbing their forearms and muzzles, and/or performing a UV illumination test. Installed temperature data loggers in several caves that were selected by the following factors: important tri-colored bat hibernacula, significant temperature fluctuations throughout the cave system that were inhabited by these bats, or uninhabited caves that seemed to have ideal temperature conditions for hibernation. Conducted a bridge roost survey to determine population estimates of southeastern bats (Myotis austroriparius), Brazilian free-tailed bats (Tadarida brasiliensis), and big brown bats (Eptesicus fuscus). Assisted in a Florida bonneted bat (Eumops floridanus, a federally endangered and South Florida endemic species) post-prescribed burn project by setting up mist nets and extracting bats from the nets.Also assisted fellow FWC biologists with a PVC tracking tube survey of the federally endangered St. Andrew beach mouse (Peromyscus perionotis peninsularis), larval dip-netting surveys of the federally endangered reticulated flatwoods salamander (Ambystoma bishopi), snake and pitfall trapping surveys with emphasis on trapping the eastern indigo snake (Drymarchon couperi), Florida pine snake (Pituophis melanoleucus mugitus), and southern hognose snake (Heterodon simus), and a blue crab fecundity survey.

Performed radio telemetry, bat banding, emergence counts, and field reconnaissance. Set up Anabat acoustic devices at field sites and analyzed bat calls. Also set up Indiana bat acoustic lure devices by playing either social or distress calls in hopes of increasing our capture success. Assisted in Indiana bat surveys for natural gas/coal mining companies in the Eastern U.S. Used GIS mapping to assess potential habitat and survey locations. Assisted in bat hibernacula surveys to estimate populations post-White Nose Syndrome (WNS). Weighed, identified, and affixed transmitters to various species of bats including the endangered Indiana bat, gray bat, Northern long-eared bat, and Virginia big-eared bat. Assisted in a timber stand improvement project for oak and hickory forest regeneration. Performed water quality analysis and macro-invertebrate surveys.

Conducted Indiana bat surveys for natural resource companies using GIS maps in PA and WV. Weighed, identified, and measured various species of bats. Assisted in radio telemetry, bat banding, 3-tiered mist net set-up, and hair sampling for mercury testing. Assisted in Timber Rattlesnake phase 1 surveys to assess potential den sites. Assisted in rare plant surveys mostly regarding wetland species such as Northeastern bulrush, water plantain, and a species of nannyberry.

In the summer of 2010, I registered to be a research assistant with the non-profit organization Operation Wallacea. The first month focused on terrestrial wildlife surveys in South Africa, including large mammal counts, bird point counts and line transects, vegetation quadrants, pitfall traps, and insect collection methods. The second month focused on marine wildlife surveys in Mozambique, including fish and coral surveys. As part of my research, I had to develop a research proposal based on my observations to be reviewed by St. Andrew's University in Scotland. Upon the approval of my research proposal, I obtained credits from St. Andrew's that were transferred to Delaware Valley University (formerly known as Delaware Valley College).
