Silverstone UTC 2014 until retired 2024. Assistant Principal (Pastoral inc. DSL) to Principal. Joined the UTC shortly after its inception and alongside the original small senior leadership team worked to establish the UTC as a new educational provision for the delivery of technical specialisms of Engineering and Business/Events Management. As part of the leadership team, implemented school wide processes and initiatives aimed at ensuring a sustainable and effective school. My foci were in the areas of Student Services, Behaviour, PHSCE, CEIAG, Pastoral and Sixth Form provision. In the ten years working in the UTC established a sustainable college with numerous industrial partnerships with industries aligned with Silverstone, F1 teams, High Performance Engineering, IT/Computing and Events Management. Latterly took over the role of Principal and supported by a new managerial team implemented numerous changes and initiatives to improve stakeholder outcomes and Post Covid overcame challenges faced with that transition period. Oversaw initiatives in T&L, pastoral provision, improving student recruitment and retention and implemented workforce changes to ensure stable staffing and retention of specialist teachers. Led the college through the most recent Ofsted which recognised that the quality of leadership was “Good” and furthermore was I commended by a senior HMI who wrote separately to say “I think it is testament to your work – and your team – that HMI have judged ‘leadership and management’ – to be good; which is reflective of the confidence that the inspection has in your capacity to improve your provision on a steep trajectory to secure improvement for the students in your care.Having led the college to a point where it was ready to be handed over in order to continue its journey of improvement I stepped back from the role in September 2024.Lutterworth Grammar School (now Lutterworth College) 2003 - 2014.Started as NQT teacher (Business Studies and Economics) and rapidly progressed to become Head of Year then Assistant Principal (Pastoral, SEN(D) including role of Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). Led on Pastoral care when the school was amongst the biggest in the country (approx. 2200 cohort) and managed a large team including Students Services, CEIAG and SEN(D).
