John Mccarthy is a STEAM Educator, Curriculum Developer at Williams Middle School. Colleagues describe him as "John combines a thorough command of subject knowledge with technological expertise, enthusiasm, and collegiality. He was instrumental in setting up our new physical science lab two years ago and has used Khan Academy and other innovative tools to help students attain mastery of learning standards. Above all, John is a dedicated professional who cares deeply about his work and brings a collaborative and positive spirit to all interactions." and "I worked with John at the William E. Norris School. I am the Library Teacher there and John worked as both a long term substitute and a paraprofessional at our school. John's skills with children were excellent. He would often use his experiences in the outdoors to inspire his students to do the best they could do. John was also very helpful to me in the library, often volunteering his services to do anything that needed doing in the library once his students were working independently. John was a dedicated employee. Everyone here was sad to see him leave, but happy that he was moving on to becoming a teacher in his own right.
