John McLamb, MSIA, PHDM – Mr. McLamb is a Solution Architect and HIT SME with over 20 years of IT experience including enterprise application integration, networking, information security and assurance, development and other IT domains. Since 1999, John has worked exclusively in the healthcare domain both private and public sectors. He served as Director for Emergency Medicine Informatics at UNC-Chapel Hill and UNC Hospitals for eight years prior to coming to Compuware /Covisint. While at UNC, John designed NC Detect, a statewide disease surveillance system which is nationally recognized and also the 2005 HIMSS Davies Award recipient for Public Health IT Systems. John also served on the CDC’s Public Health Information Network (PHIN) board of state advisors from 2007-2009. In addition, Mr. McLamb was on the committee to rewrite PHIN 1.0 to PHIN 2.0 so as to harmonize the public health IT standards to the National Health Information Network (NHIN). John also served as a consultant and project manager to the State of NC Department of Public Health for PHIN certification and guidance including accrediting public health IT systems in the area of immunization registry reporting, electronic lab reporting (ELR), disease reporting, and other public health functional domains. Among his accomplishments include many publications on HIT bioterrorism and surveillance, public health disaster management systems, emergency medicines EHRs, and other HIT related publications and articles. Mr. McLamb also was an adjunct asst. professor at UNC-CH. John has a Bachelor of Science in Health Science from Campbell University, a Master’s Degree in Information Security and Assurance and Public Health Disaster Management from UNC-CH. He also has a post graduate certification in Computer Science from NC State University. John has many IT certifications including a Project Management Certification from Keane Corp.
