I started in a specialist engineering role in Ford Motor Co, moving to Cosworth Engineering where I led the introduction of a function with test centre for powertrain systems engineering. As well as managing the function, this involved business planning, capital investment and business development. The new function proved quickly successful, and I became responsible for all Engineering Functions within the company, which by then had been acquired by Audi.My current role is founding director of Integral Powertrain, we have 170+ staff, including sister company Intrinsys, specialising in the provision of powertrain engineering services, development of new powertrain technology, E-Machines and inverters, and CAE services. Growth has been exceptional in the last 4 years, particularly in E-Machines and ERS. I enjoy building value and capability for the company and look forward to doing more of this in the future, perhaps on a larger scale.Specialties: Automotive technology, engines, control systems, manufacturing, exploitation of intellectual property and the commercial side of running an automotive engineering consultancy.

We founded Integral Powertrain and Intrinsys in 1999, and the companies have been successful and grown substantially in the last few years. The role is increasingly commercially focused, with responsibility for finance, legal, purchasing, facilities and as part of our board, in business and strategic planning. I lead our low volume manufacturing operations, which are planned to increase in volume, and I am also involved in a JV for new product development. On the technical side, I cover Powertrain Systems, including the development of automotive powertrain control systems and vehicle emissions. In 2014, Intrinsys completed the successful acquisition of Applied Group, which I supported commercially.

Chief Engineer
Cosworth Engineering became Cosworth Technology following its acquisition by VW Group (Audi) from Vickers. The company was later acquired by Mahle, and became Mahle Powertrain. I was latterly responsible for all Engineering functions at Cosworth Technology.

Responsible for creating, setting up and building the new Powertrain Controls function within Cosworth Engineering. This included specification and justification to parent Vickers of the company's investment in the Emissions and Driveability Centre, which was a vehicle emission and climatic test facility. I was responsible for supporting sales into the new area, management of the team and project management. The new function was successful, and introduced a significant stream of application engineering and diagnostics work into the company. Also supported cross functional and strategic operational issues, working with teams such as the operations group, finance, HR and the Cosworth board.

Sub system development for knock control, boost control and idle speed control systems.
