CurrentThe Engineering Department within New Builds and Engineering is split into three distinct disciplines each providing Engineering Services to the Fleet & Equipment groups and additionally to all of the global business groups.The Engineering teams are primarily based in Aberdeen but provide a global service to all of our business locations. We are responsible for disseminating best engineering practices across the OR group with particular emphasis on Engineering Process Management, Technical Risk mitigation, and Cost/Resource Management.The departments I am responsible for are :-Naval ArchitectureThe Naval Architecture Team is a centre of excellence for Ships Naval Architecture within the global organisation. The team provides key interfaces between shipyards and Company Vessel/Project Management teams for the integrity of ships structure. Project EngineeringThe Project Engineering Team provide professional engineering input and support for CAPEX and New Build Projects at Tender/Budget stage through to handover to end user. This covers design review, manufacture process review and inspection, assembly, commissioning and testing of complex mission equipment for pipelay and construction vessels. The Project Engineering Team's primary function is to predict, prevent and protect from failures of our assets in order to reduce injuries to our work colleagues, environmental harm, project cost over-runs and production delays and to support this we have a highly developed Technical Risk expertise..Drafting & Ships DrawingsThe drafting Team is split into two groups, one controlling Ships Drawings (ORSD) and one controlling Equipment Drawings (ORED). They manage respectively all ships and equipment drawings held by the Offshore Resources. .
