About John Mease

I graduated from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania in May 1984, earning a BSBA degree with a focus in accounting. I later earned my CPA certificate in August 1986. I currently serve as the Vice President/Chief Financial Officer for Towson University Foundation, Inc.In my personal time, I enjoyed 15 years coaching my two sons in baseball and basketball, as part of the Elkridge Youth Organization. I married in May 1987 and am the father of three great children (two sons and one daughter). I attend Melville Chapel United Methodist Church in Elkridge, MD and have become active in supporting the mission of the church and its members. I have recently taken on the role of Treasurer for the church. I enjoy bowling and I love watching most sports, particularly baseball and my beloved Philadelphia Phillies!

The Foundation was created to provide and manage private dollars in support of the students and the varied programs of Towson University, part of the University System of Maryland.     I was responsible for the day to day accounting operations, I prepared quarterly consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP and assisted the Treasurer in the preparation of the annual budget. I oversaw all aspects of the annual external audit process, including the preparation of the financial statements and the related footnotes. I was also responsible for the preparation of the Foundation's annual Federal Form 990 and the many state tax returns. Finally, I assisted in the implementation of all new accounting policies, procedures and pronouncements and relevent GAAP. Supervised a staff of five.
