Who Am I?First and foremost, I am a storyteller. Whether in the newsroom or in a PR/Comms role, I love to tell audiences stories of those in our communities or the stories of PR clients and customers making a difference to advance our well-being and their growth. I am a seasoned journalist and PR professional with 25 years of experience. I’ve spent much of my career in newsrooms, leading coverage of daily news, major stories, weather events as well as long-term projects like elections and other special series. I’ve also produced news and programs in multiple countries including: the UK, France, Norway, South Korea, and India. I was responsible for field producing all aspects of the coverage, arranging all logistics, setting up interviews and approving all content and scripts produced from our locations.I get results. The years in news proved valuable in the PR world. Because of my extensive contacts, I’ve placed several clients in the media from Phoenix to Toronto. In my role at a Science & Tech think tank, I landed a study we produced in Space.com, as well as placed other Op-eds in national magazines and web sites. I also have experience working with important people on articles and releases, including a former NASA Administrator and the former Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment. As a TV newsroom manager, I’ve been instrumental in ratings growth in several markets. I’ve hired some amazing storytellers and helped break impactful stories. In Boise, we uncovered a financial scandal in the Mayor’s Office. The mayor and two others served jail time and the city changed their accounting procedures because of our award-winning investigation. Also, under my guidance a small, relatively inexperienced news team put on multiple hours of weather coverage during Super Storm Sandy. Our team received the station’s first regional Emmy nomination for that coverage. I am an excellent manager because I truly care about the people around me. My leadership style is firm but fair. I manage each person individually. There is no “one-size-fits-all” method to managing. Those I’ve worked with consider me empathetic, putting health and family first. But, when it is time to really get to work, I expect the team to be all-in, even if it warrants hours of work/coverage.Let’s set up an interview to discuss what I can do for you. Thank you.
