EXPERIENCE*** Currently on Planning Committee for the 2019 CORS National Confernce to be held in Saskatoon 27-29 May, 2019 ***Operational Research Consultant based in Saskatoon• Contract work for a Logistics consulting company. Evaluated a proposed supply chain for nitrogen fertilizer purchase and distribution by building a Linear Programming Distribution Model in Excel.• Contract work for Consumers’ Co-operative Refinery in Regina. Used large scale Commercial LP models of the integrated CCRL Refinery and UpGrader complex to review monthly operations and the impact of departures from planned operations on the transfer pricing between the two financial entities owning the upgrading facility.• Contract work for an Asphalt plant in Western Canada. Built and calibrated a multi-period, multi-product Linear Programming model in Excel to explore and optimize strategic decisions regarding product mix, new product possibilities, crude purchase mix and potential capital expansion projects.• Pro-Bono for Community Association - Submission to City of Saskatoon. Built simple economic model in Excel of Tall Wind Turbine project to evaluate the impact of uncertainty in the project capital costs using Monte Carlo Simulation for uncertain cost components.• Made extensive modifications to a pre-existing Excel spread sheet for evaluating the distortions at the base of large storage tanks. The system was rigorously tested, implemented and documented. It resulted in significant savings in time and improved reliability of analysis.• U of S Edwards School of Business. As a sessional lecturer taught a one term P.O.M. course to 3rd and 4th year students.* Discussed methods for optimal sourcing of raw material (scrap iron & steel) with respect to supply limits, price, shipping costs and transit times with uncertainties in transit times.

Operations Research Analyst and Senior Operations Research Analyst with Federated Co-operatives in Saskatoon• Extensive experience with Optimization Models – Petroleum Exchanges and truck distribution of product to retails across western CanadaRefinery production planning and long-range strategic planningMonthly production planning for lube oil packaging, including sales forecastingBuilt and maintained in-house models for feasibility studies of the Co-op UpGrader project, including the production processes, sales projections and preparations for placement of the financial offerings.Built an enhanced optimization model of the Refinery/UpGrader complex using the commercial modelling package (GRTMPS from Haverly Systems Inc) and trained planning staff in its use and maintenance and enhancement.• Extensive experience with Forecasting – Worked with petroleum merchandizing departments for budgeting by month, using history, economic indicators and marketing initiatives to forecast sales of 8 products for 400 locations.Developed oil pricing forecasts/scenarios compared to a variety of industry projections.Developed longer term petroleum product demand forecasts (25 year) for use economic evaluations, feasibility studies and RFE’s for refinery expansion projects. Participated in the 30-yr financial modeling of the NewGrade Energy Upgrader complex.- This work used production/operations modeling, oil price and light/heavy oil differential forecasting, and taxation regime. Was used in the placement of $630 million (1985 dollars) with Canadian and American investors.• Built Energy Base-Line Consumption Model for Petroleum Refinery – Developed data sources for process unit through-puts and energy consumption. Considered impacts of weather, product mix and product volume and process improvements. Monitored energy consumption and quantified impacts of process improvements and energy reduction initiatives.Extended model to monitor and report CO2 production.

* Carried out review of Ministry of Industry program for support of the machine tool industry.* Carried out a review of the status of national water reservoir system.* Built the outlines of a simulation model for the Criminal Justice System, taking into account crime rates, detection rates, conviction rates, sentence lengths, early release and parole policies and recidivism rates. This was used to test the effects of policy changes on back-logs at all stages and on prison populations.

* Worked with team of cereal chemists and the Grain Inspection division to implement on-the-spot protein determinations of hard red spring wheat at terminal elevators. This results in better binning decisions in support of the Canadian Wheat Board marketing program of guaranteed protein content of Canadian wheat.* Served as member and statistical consultant on the joint CGC/CWB 'protein committee' for weekly co-ordination of rail car allocations for the movement of western Canadian wheat to export terminals.* Consulted with cereal chemists in the Grain Research Lab of the CGC with regard to experimental design and statistical analysis and interpretation of experimental results.* Reviewed results and modified the procedures for the annual CGC fall survey of the current Spring Wheat harvest, with regard to expected grade splits and protein content.
