I began my civil service career in 2005 as an Electroplating Co-Op at Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) while enrolled at Del Mar College. My appetite for learning, developing appropriate skills, and mastering electroplating techniques advanced me to the position of Journeymen. Among my graduating class, I was the first to reach a journeymen position. After mastering processes performed in the electroplating shop, I directed my attention toward improving the overall performance of the plating shop. I pursued any available training, program or events that would help me improve efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Such training and programs included Total Productive Maintenance, Rapid Improvement Events, the Leading Change Team and a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification. During my 10 years in the plating shop, I demonstrated my ability to work with various stakeholders at CCAD to include areas within and across directorates, across all shifts, outside contractors and vendors, engineering, and partners such as Boeing. After my time in plating, I worked as a Master Data Management Specialist for over 3 years utilizing SAP systems, during which I completed a Black Belt Project and completed training. I was selected for a position as a Process Improvement Specialist in the Office of Continuous Improvement. I was responsible for completing projects focused on improving the efficiency and effectiveness of a wide range of processes performed at the depot while encouraging the spread of Continuous Process Improvement methodology, tools and culture.I completed an additional Black Belt Project and earned my Army Certification as a Lean 6 Sigma Black Belt and am currently supporting the directorate of manufacturing and process production in that capacity.
