As a trombonist I have had the privilege of performing with some of the finest ensembles in the world, including the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Music of the Baroque, and Chicago Opera Theater. I have held positions with two orchestras outside the USA, the Sinfónica Nacional de Costa Rica, and the Filarmónica de Santiago (Chile). My experience as a chamber musician includes work with the Chicago Brass Quintet, the Red Peppers Ragtime Ensemble, and countless performances of chamber repertoire from the last four centuries with various ensembles.As a composer, I have written works for string quartet and trio, oboe, piano, orchestra, and large brass ensemble. My latest work, “Fanfare, Chorale, and Rant” for trombone and piano, will be premiered at the International Trombone Festival in July 2019.My arrangements have been performed by the New York Philharmonic Brass, the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, the Quincy Symphony Orchestra, the Millar Brass Ensemble, the Monarch Brass, and the Washington Symphonic Brass.

In addition to my primary role as professor of trombone and euphonium, I also am currently teaching music theory and aural skills, as well as low brass techniques for music education majors. I also rehearse and perform regularly with the Lamoine Brass Quintet, one of the faculty chamber groups at the WIU School of Music.
