Human Study e.V. (HS) is a humanitarian, non-profit organization, founded in 2005 with headquarters in Nuremberg, Germany. The HS Mission is dedicated to providing contemporary and advanced sustainable educational opportunities in prosthetics and orthotics for countries affected by armed conflict and/or those without sufficient educational process. HS is the only non-profit foundation in the world today, which has the proven capability and experience to deliver internationally recognized and accredited Blended Distance Learning Prosthetic and Orthotic Programs. The HS programs are designed to facilitate a combination of computer distance learning technique that also includes live streaming lectures by P&O experts via our innovative and proprietary internet platform, followed by on-site live demonstration and hands-on practical workshops. HS is fully accredited by the International Society of Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) to provide both, Category I and Category II1 recognition education. Compelled by the dramatic global shortage of educated and competent prosthetic/orthotic practitioners and technicians, HS has developed an innovative, contemporary educational model, which satisfies global education standards for the prosthetic and orthotic (P&O) profession. The HS blended education model has been developed to ensure sustainability, cost effectiveness and excellence, in order to increase access to competent and effective prosthetic/orthotic services for people with disabilities (PWD) worldwide. Since 2007, Human Study has demonstrated its expertise and ability to successfully deliver viable, accredited, high-quality P&O blended distance learning educational process to indigenous graduates from over 25 countries and 4 continents. Currently, Human Study has more than 100 students from 17 countries enrolled in blended learning P&O programs on Category II and Category I levels. In each region where HS education is delivered, it is adapted to meet the specific and unique contexts encountered and is sensitive to both cultural and spoken language aspects. Indeed, the HS blended methodology programs ensure that the previous world geographical isolation which often prevented access to high quality internationally accredited, prosthetic and orthotic practical training and education is no longer beyond practical reach almost anywhere on the planet.
